Minimalistic Casual Wardrobe

THE LOOK

Style Notes

KEY PIECES

Today’s Style Note is not just a look, but an entire capsule! It follows the same principle as the 10-piece wardrobe that I’ve shown you already.

This capsule is a casual capsule that would work for anyone on the go who wants comfort without compromising on style.

The blazer brings in some structure so if needed, the looks can feel a bit dressier.

The cardigan, on the other hand, serves as an easy and casual cover up for laid back off-duty looks.

A good piece to consider for a casual wardrobe is a pair of jogger trousers – they look casual enough to work for the weekend wardrobe, but still have a good bit of structure to not end up feeling like you are wearing a pair of sweatpants. If you are tired of jeans, this is an option to consider!

STYLING IDEAS

All of these pieces can be dressed up if needed (you’ve seen most of these items as part of other looks) but shoes is what will keep them on the casual side.

I have 3 key shoe staples for a comfortable yet stylish spring wardrobe – white trainers, loafers and pointy pumps. If you are not a heels girl, make sure you have these options in your wardrobe!

Pointy flats are the dressier option of them all so can take your casual looks up a notch if needed.

The burgundy bag has a good bit of structure to keep the looks polished, while the light taupe bag has a very soft shape to it that will relax the looks. This will give you the flexibility to have even more control over how dressy or casual your looks feel within the capsule.

DECIDING IF THIS IS RIGHT FOR YOU

This capsule has a very clean minimalistic look to it. I’ve used mostly neutrals  and you can see how versatile they are – these colours effortlessly mix and match in any combination.

The denim shirt and the burgundy bag are the only two pieces that have some depth of colour, but they are still just as versatile as the neutrals.

If you are a mom on the go, this is the perfect out-and-about wardrobe for spring/summer to feel well-put-together without compromising the comfort. I regularly see similar colours and pieces in many of my clients’ wardrobe, so more likely than not you already have a few of these bits!

Variations of these pieces in your current wardrobe will give you a jump start while the capsule example will help you to structure them and identify the gaps.

You can add brighter colours to the capsule if you crave colour, just keep the silhouettes similar for ease of mixing & matching.

Cream jeans can be substituted for blue denim or any other trousers if you feel that cream is too impractical.

I’m showing you some of the combinations below, but this capsule can provide over 40 looks by mixing pieces from the middle and bottom layers and then adding the outer layer.
