How to Use Style Notes

welcome to the lookbook collective

How to make the most of your membership

The primary goal of TLC is to give you style inspiration that you can act on. That’s why we give you the links to all the products featured!

However, remember that you don’t have to buy! We are giving you a pool of ideas on how pieces can be styled so use Style Notes as a source of inspiration for colour co-ordinating, layering, accessorizing and styling in general.

  • You might see a colour combination in one of the looks that you already have in your wardrobe but never thought of putting together.
  • Or you might see a different styling solution to an outfit formula you are already bored of.
  • Or you might pick up practical tips and suggestions on maximizing the potential of your existing wardrobe from the notes section so always read those!

Remember – this is not all about shopping (The Lookbook Collective is not a part of any affiliate program so we don’t make any money on the purchases you make from our links!) but rather about learning how to do more with less!

developing your eye for style

Adapt the looks to YOUR needs

If you see a piece in the look that you can’t wear for whatever reason (might not suit your shape or the colour won’t suit your lifestyle (white and small kids don’t always go together!)), just think of the nearest possible alternative that would tick YOUR boxes.

Don’t immediately dismiss the look or the overall idea just because one aspect of it doesn’t work for you. The Lookbook Collective will seriously transform your eye for style if you learn how to evaluate and analyse looks to suit your specific requirements!

stock availability

Sizes

We do our best to only include pieces that have a full size range available, however, we have no control over how quickly the stock will sell out. We put the looks together as close as a day or two before the release to ensure that the stock is available, but if your size is gone, let’s say, a week or 2 down the road, don’t despair.

There are 2 things you can do:

1). Sign up to the retailer’s notification service to get an email when the item comes back in stock.
2). Use the featured piece as a reference point and find a similar alternative elsewhere. Knowing exactly what you are looking for will make shopping very straightforward!

Your shopping preferences

Online vs In-Store

We try to use stock from brands that are widely available both online and in-store so if you are not a fan of online shopping, take note of the item number, head down to your nearest branch and ask the staff to show you where the item is so you can try it on.

If that particular branch doesn’t stock your piece (stores can’t carry the full selection of everything that is available online but that’s why we are such big fans of online shopping!), ask staff to check what other branches have it in stock and make a decision accordingly.

We use brands within a variety of price points. However, if you like a certain piece but it is outside of your budget or, on the contrary, you’d prefer higher quality, use the item featured as a reference point and find a suitable alternative in your preferred price/quality range.

finding the products

About the links

Sometimes when you click on the link, you will be prompted to go to the site in your local currency and doing that doesn’t always redirect you back to the item.

The best solution in this case is to look at the link (we don’t shorten links because of this specific scenario), the item description is always included in the link. Just search the website by the description name used in the link and it will take you to the product or a very small selection of products that fit that search criterai.

You’ll immediately recognize the item we featured even if the search results yielded a few products.
